Buy Laptops-Why should we buy a laptop?

I'm sure most people only have enough spendable income to purchase one type of computer and that imposes a very difficult question for most consumers.

What should I buy a Desktop or a Laptop?

The answer to this question will depend on your needs. Such as what do you need the computer for? Entertainment purposes, work related, school, gaming, writing, and so on....

The next question is another important factor in deciding if you should buy desktops or buy laptops.

Do you want a Computer that is stationary or a computer that you can take anywhere with you?

Let's explain the Benefits of Each:

The Traditional Desktop Computer has it's own benefits for a consumer to purchase it. The first benefit for a desktop is that the amount of memory and hardware you can add to a desktop, well is almost endless. This fits the necessities of computer gamers. Desktops are a valuable product for gamers, thus if you are a gamer then a laptop may not be for you.

Unlike a laptop the desktop, will usually stay in a stationary location such as your desk at home, thus eliminating the chances of it getting stolen. (Unless your house or office gets robbed)

The Desktop makes additions simple. Once you install the new hardware such as audio or a printer, it's done, no pulling out to use it. Printers are a perfect example once you have set up the printer through your desktop, it's done, when you want to print, just turn on the printer and click print. Not so with a laptop, unless you have a wireless network setup with in your home or office that you can connect with a laptop. If so you can use the printer through a network sharing center.

Desktops are cheaper, have more power, can be fixed cheaper than laptops, and can be updated with more additional hardware than a laptop, but on the downside you can't carry a desktop with you.

Desktops are perfect for individuals who love to play computer games or anyone who needs a lot of hardware and space to complete their computing tasks.

The laptop also present some unique advantages and disadvantages. Because of the size of the laptops, they present a feature that desktops cannot compete against, they are portable. They allow you to take them anywhere you want to use it, the kitchen table, the bathroom (They say a man does his best thinking on the jon), in the Sun-room, the bedroom, outside under a tree, you get the point.

Most laptops, if not all include a wireless LAN, which enables you to tap in on available free wireless Internet. Hotels and restaurants often offer free wireless Internet to their customers, so having a laptop can give you the advantage of surfing the Internet while your on vacation, catching a meal, or on a business trip. You may also be able to access the Internet with any unsecured wireless Internet networks at various locations.

Although a laptop might not have the full ability as a desktop, the ease of transport makes it a very demanded product. Even with a power outage, you will still be able to use your laptop, because of the battery feature it has.

One important disadvantage that a laptop does have verse a desktop, is the chance of theft. Because of the portability of the laptop, generally they are taken to many public places with their owners, even sitting in the car will present a thief with a bonafide chance to steal it. They are a prime target for thieves because of their value and the possible value of the data with in the laptops.

Other disadvantages are that they are generally more expensive to repair than desktops. They generally only come with basic video, graphic, and sound cards as well, limiting your gaming ability. Granted you can still play most games, but high visual games, well, won't work with a laptop.

Laptops are a perfect tool for traveling business men and women, journalists, vacationing families, teachers, professors, lecture givers, and simply anyone who wants the benefit of a mobile computer system.

(Be wise when transporting your laptop, make it password protected, keep it hidden away from passing strangers, and always keep in with in a view of you)

So really Why buy laptops?

  • Portable
  • Use on battery
  • Wireless LAN

Those three features are features the desktop doesn't have and why the demand for laptops are so high and why people buy laptops. If you only purpose is to share documents, pictures, playing online games, school work, or surfing the Internet, then a Laptop may be your best choice.

So deciding on a desktop or a Laptop is as simple as deciding what you need or want.

Do you want  or need a portable computer system? Then you buy a laptop!

Do you need power? Then you buy a desktop! (Not saying that laptops are not powerful tools, because they are almost as powerful as a desktop, but desktops do have more capabilities than laptops, and generally come with better graphic and video cards, and higher performing hardware.

The decision is now yours, buy laptops or buy desktops?
